Building high performing teams in high pressure scenarios

When the stakes are high, how teams function can make or break outcomes. This session explores the dynamics of high-performing teams under pressure—what enables them to thrive, how they communicate, and how leaders can foster resilience and clarity in the chaos. Drawing on lessons from healthcare, emergency response, and high-reliability organisations, we’ll unpack the behaviours, mindsets, and structures that support effective teamwork when it matters most. Whether you're leading a team or part of one, this session will equip you with practical tools to perform under pressure—together.

This workshop will address the following learning objectives:

  • Describe the characteristics of high-performing teams in high-pressure environments
  • Identify common barriers to effective teamwork and communication during critical situations
  • Apply strategies to enhance team coordination, psychological safety, and decision-making under stress
  • Evaluate leadership behaviours that support team resilience, adaptability, and performance in dynamic settings
